Tooth problems can also become infections that start with an infected tooth and grows to an infection that travels to other parts of your pet’s body.

STAGES OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE
Stage 0: The gum margin is flat and pink and creates a scalloped edge against the teeth.
Stage 1: The gum (or gingiva) at the top of the teeth is inflamed and swollen, and plaque covers the teeth. Professional cleaning and home dental care can reverse this condition.
Stage 2: The tooth starts loosing support from bone loss. Bad breath is usually noticeable. Professional treatment and home dental care can prevent this from getting worse.
Stage 3: Pet’s mouth is painful & bad breath is noticeable. Tooth support worsens with further bone loss. Professional treatment is needed. Tooth extractions are likely. Bone grafts may be needed.
Stage 4: Bone loss has increased and tooth support has decreased even more. Tooth extraction is required.
TEETH CLEANING UNDER ANESTHESIA
When your pet needs a more in-depth oral exam, or they need a professional teeth cleaning or extractions, we use anesthesia to make the procedure more comfortable for them, just like when we do surgery on pets.
We use similar equipment as your own human dentist uses, to carefully remove plaque buildup from above and below the gum line.
If your pet has stinky breath, or other signs of dental disease, give us a call at 903-645-3101 to get your pet an appointment so we can determine a plan to improve your pet’s oral health!
